Project 3

Image
The goal of project 3 was to complete the work by adding textures and small objects to the exterior of project 1 and the interior of project 2. I started with the interior. Since my interior design did not have detailed textures, I added wood grain patterns to the columns, cracks to the walls, and tatami mat patterns. This made my work a much clearer picture. Also, in Exterior, I used photo bashing, which uses photos as a background, to create a background, since I had only painted the Hero Building in project 1. Next, my hero building was very simple and did not have much character. Then I researched about Japan and found that one of the valorant characters "Yoru" was based on the motif of an ogre. Also, I had drawn my hero building to look like a broken castle, so I wanted it to look damaged. So I decided to combine them. In detail, I painted ogre weapons on the cracked areas and changed the look of the hero building slightly. I also changed the colors of the buildings the...

Project 2

In the first sentence, Project 2 aimed to do interior design. To get an idea of the interior design, we used Pinterest to research old Japanese interiors. We also used Blender to create a simplified building so that we could start drawing different perspectives, as we did not know how to start when drawing. However, when I completed the painting, I realised that although there were elements of Japanese style, I had not been able to create originality. Therefore, we changed the symmetrical structure of the building to unsymmetrical and added a flag inspired by Kabuki masks.Compared to the previous Project 1, I could see growth in tones, value and colour.

Project 1

Project 1 is to collaborate with a game or movie to create a painting. For this purpose, I chose the concept of valorant, an FPS game that I play often. valorant has several maps, one of which is based on Japan. However, from my perspective as a Japanese person, that map seemed to have completely lost its Japaneseness, so I decided to paint a picture of it in the form of a renewal. Specifically, I used the Japanese cityscape as a base and incorporated images of damaged and broken buildings. Before painting the picture, I used Pinterest to find images of various buildings in order to get an idea of the architecture and colors. However, this was a very difficult task for me, as it was the first time for me to paint a picture from scratch. During class, I watched Mr. Kannan teach me how to paint, and in just one hour I had completed the exterior of the building. It looked easy, but when I actually tried it myself, I found it difficult to draw my own original building. However, throug...

Tones and values

Image
Because of visa problem, I couldn’t join class until today. However , finally I managed to join this class. In the class I leaned tones and values. Tones are often used to create a sense of volume, depth, and shading in drawings. By using a variety of tones, artists can create realistic, three-dimensional shapes on a two-dimensional surface. For example, light tones can be used to make an object appear closer or reflect light, while dark tones can be used to create shadows and a sense of depth. Value, on the other hand, determines the overall contrast and tonal range of the drawing. A high value drawing has a wide range of light to dark tones, while a low value drawing has a narrower range. Depending on the artist's intent, high and low values may be chosen to create different moods or to emphasise certain elements of the work. As the exercise, I practice drawing about tones. However because of this is first time, I could not image while drawing. But I could managed to finished wi...
